_Introduction
¬ Rayon Noir is an avant-garde studio located in the heart of Paris, blending tattooing, painting, graphic design, architecture, and an art gallery. The studio’s ambition is to encourage the evolution of artistic practice while preserving craftsmanship and tradition.
¬ The Rayon Noir tattoo studio was founded by Maxime Grehier formerly known under the pseudonym Maxlesquatt en 2020. He took the time to imagine a space that is truly unique, something apart, more than just another tattoo shop.
_Topography
¬ It is in Paris’s 12th arrondissement that Max created a space of more than 300m² across two floors, making it the largest creative studio within Paris city limits. Its location is no coincidence: it sits at the foot of the Viaduc des Arts, a historic cluster of artisan craft workshops.
¬ Rayon Noir was conceived as a true living space, where artists grow and spend a large part of their time. Every material, every area, and every detail has been carefully considered to ensure the well-being of both the team and the clients.
¬ On the lower level, there is a creation workshop reserved for resident artists, allowing them to explore other mediums.
¬ The space features architect-designed furniture with clean lines, pieces from major design publishers such as Vitra and USM, as well as signed vintage furniture. A library of reference books and collectible objects completes the decor.
_Anthropology
¬ Rayon Noir is a young collective of creatives, architects, painters, and graphic designers.
¬ A team that works in complete trust, whose members exchange ideas and advise one another on their projects and on broader decisions. Each resident artist has their own background and distinctive style. Despite this, they come together around a shared work ethic and a common creative philosophy.
¬ The resident artists are multidisciplinary, which allows the studio to collaborate with brands such as Birkenstock, Adidas, Roland-Garros, NYX Cosmetics, Live Nation, and Kérastase (L’Oréal) for events or exclusive products.
_International
¬ Rayon Noir has a strong international reach and continues to develop relationships with foreign artists. It is a dedicated hub in its own right, coordinated by a guest manager within the team.
¬ Each month, she invites up to around twenty talented artists, exploring all graphic styles. The goal is to discover new ways of working, exchange ideas, and give their clients the opportunity to be tattooed by artists from all over the world.
_Events
¬ Since 2023, the Rayon Noir team has been involved in numerous public and private events, offering services such as tattooing, piercing, dental rhinestones, and nail art. Fashion Week, festivals, corporate parties… they adapt their formats to provide a unique, tailor-made, and always high-end experience.
_Rayon Noir Gallery
¬ Rayon Noir Gallery is a space dedicated to excellence in contemporary art, where painters are invited to exhibit their works within the Rayon Noir premises. It is a place where tattooing and painting interact, and where each exhibition becomes an opportunity to share unique and inspiring artistic worlds.
_Podcast
¬ With the aim of promoting tattoo culture and giving a voice to its practitioners, Rayon Noir has been sponsoring the TradeMark™ podcast, created by Carbone Magazine, since its launch in 2023.
¬ With over sixty guests and more than 22,600 listens, this podcast has established itself as a benchmark and remains one of the few in France entirely dedicated to the world of tattooing.
